Narva Department for City Development and Economy has got gratitude letter for successful implementation of a large scale project „Development of the unique Narva-Ivangorod fortresses ensemble as a single cultural and tourist object” from advisor of European Territorial Cooperation Bureau of Estonian Ministry of Interior Silja Lipp.

Reason for it was a letter from programme manager of Directorate-General for Development and Cooperation-EuropeAid Regional Programmes Neighbourhood East Alejandro Eggenschwiler and ROM monitor-expert of EC Ljudmila Radautan conclusions. L.Radautan visited Narva, Ivangorod and Sankt Petersburg 26-29 Novemmber 2013 to implement audit and monitoring of the project activities.

During the visit expert got acquainted with project management system, project implementation, project results. Also she made sure, that project documents are keeping correctly. She visited the construction sites in Narva and in Ivangood and satisfied that works are within the time schedule. She met with project staff and representatives of local authority. Expert’s special improvement got the fact, that all cross border projects of Narva Department for City Development and Economy are linked closely each other, thus a synergistic effect of integrated development of the border areas of historic cities of Narva and Ivangorod will appear.

Main project activities are concentrated on Victoria bastion and Powder Cellar restoration in Narva, the Small Powder Granary reconstruction and the quadrangular fortress of 1492 conservation in Ivangorod. Project is implemented by Narva Department for City Development and Economy together with and „Museum Agency” of Leningradskaya Oblast.

In Narva reconstruction works on two walls of bastion Victoria are already finished, drainage works are in the final stage, Powder cellar is excavated. Construction and restoration works should be completed by the end of summer 2014. To complete reconstruction works in time some works go on in winter time as well. Construction companies E & G OÜ/AS Pärnu REV implement Victoria bastion reconstruction; total budget of the construction works is more than 2,9 mln. EUR

Large Scale Project „Development of the unique Narva-Ivangorod fortresses ensemble as a single cultural and tourist object” is financed by Estonia-Latvia-Russia cross-border cooperation Programme within European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI) 2007-2013. Total budget of the project is 6,9 mln. EUR. Programme co-financing is 6,2 mln. EUR including co-financing from the State Budget of Estonia 1,8 mln. EUR.
